LAMS eLC
About LAMS eLC
LAMS eLC is a new concept in e-Learning that transforms teaching and learning by integrating digital resources with highly motivating online collaborative tasks.
LAMS eLC provides a library of digital lesson plans aligned to the National Curriculum. These lessons are unique because they combine online content with collaborative group activities into a structured "flow" of student tasks. Using the revolutionary LAMS software, teachers can run these lessons with students and track their progress, as well as adapt existing lessons for different topics or levels.
LAMS eLC Sequence Library
The LAMS eLC "Sequence Library" is a collection of digital lesson plans that cover various subjects across key stages 2 and 3 (key stages 1 and 4 to be added soon). Sample topics include English, Science, History and ICT - all mapped directly to relevant curriculum. Each lesson includes:
- A structured lesson with automatically configured online activities
- A comprehensive Teacher's Guide
- Collaborative student environment
- Bundled electronic resources
The lessons themselves are made up of collaborative activities that deliver exciting learning materials and tasks in an interactive environment. Lessons can include a selection of the following types of content and activities:
- Websites, documents, images, and other online knowledge resources
- Online Discussion Forums and Chat (protected - only available to your students)
- Collaborative Question and Answer
- Surveys
- Quizzes
- Collaborative voting
- Assignment activities
- Small group activities such as sharing ideas, files, websites, etc
Each lesson stimulates learning by involving students in the discovery process and allowing them to collaborate with classmates in a focussed, structured environment.
Learning Activity Management System (LAMS)
At the heart of LAMS eLC is the Learning Activity Management System, provided as part of the package, to manage the delivery of digital lesson plans to students. The system is accessible from anywhere that has an Internet connection whether it is in the school, at home or on the road.
LAMS allows the teacher to decide which lessons are delivered to particular groups of students. The teacher can monitor all student activities and track students' progress in any lesson, for example, how they have responded in any particular activity and whether they are interacting with other students.
With LAMS, teachers can modify and personalise any particular lesson to best meet their personal teaching style and the needs of their students. These modified lessons can then be saved and reused at a later time, and shared with other teachers at the relevant school. Teachers can also create their own new lessons if desired.
Features:- Class creation and grouping
- Launching a lesson
- Monitoring student activities through a web-based graphical interface
- Ability to modify any of the lessons if desired, or create new lessons
- Export of quiz and survey results
- Can be integrated into supported Learning Management Systems (see website)
How do I use LAMS eLC?
Once you have purchased a package, the staff at LAMS International will set up your account on a hosted LAMS eLC server in our UK data centre (NB: LAMS eLC is only available via hosting due to the need to securely manage the eLC library).
Both students and teachers access the system via the Internet with just a Web browser and the Macromedia Flash plug-in (which is freely available if not installed already). The teacher then selects the appropriate digital lesson, modifies it if required, selects the class and runs the lesson. It's that simple!
Once the class is running, students log in and are presented with the chosen learning activities which they complete in collaboration with their classmates. At any time, the teacher can monitor the activities of individuals and the whole class to see how the students are progressing. A student can easily view all current and past activities.
